The Commissioner for Revenue Mobilization, Allocation And Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) and a former Deputy Governor of Abia State, Dr Chris Akomas has sought the collaboration of the State Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, PhD in the efficient improvement of revenues in the federation.
He stated this while paying a courtesy visit to the Governor last the government house today.
“We need to work together to enable credible data, the world has gone digital and we have followed suit. To monitor the accurate account of the federation account, to review account, discharge other functions as conferred by the commission.”
“Also the commission is there to enhance and improve revenue to the federation’s account, diversification is on board on some areas on mineral, agriculture and farming programme to enhance the lives of the people.”
Dr Chris called on the Governor to work with Minister of Mines and Steel, Dr Uche Ogah to enhance solid minerals in the State.
“In the last years, Abia State did not do fare well in the capture of solid minerals and which we want to rectify. We need to expand the agricultural sector. Limestone and other solid minerals that people use needs to be captured.”
“We have a large deposit of gas in Abia State which we need to develop and necessary action is taken to capture what we need, ” he said.
Dr Chris also thanked the Governor for a smooth visit, for the support of his appointment as the Commissioner representing Abia State at the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission and the conveying of the three senators who were present during the process of screening.
He also commended the Governor for not being partisan in his position and reiterated that their position is to advise the States on how to improve their internal revenue.
The Governor also thanked the Commissioner and promised his support towards a better collection of data and improving the lives of the people in the State.
