I Want To Be Told Why A Child Died At Birth – Gov. Ikpeazu Speaks On Telehealth

The Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has said that he wants the State to get to a place where he’s alerted and told why a child died at birth.

He said this while responding to some questions thrown by the former Deputy former governor of Abia State, Dr Chris Akomas at the State Government house today.

“In Abia State, our concern is to have a better life expectancy that the natural average because it is obtainable and we want to speak to numbers. That is why we captured the geriatrics and the mother and child.”

“The geriatrics goes to communities free of charge to look at our aged parents and help them to keep pace with their routine drugs or even help take them to the nearest family health care.”

“Our ambition is to make sure that every child we lose at birth, the Governor should know why. So we can correct the error and make sure that the next child that comes survives.”

“We are also doing a specialist hospital for mother and child to make sure that wherever the case may be, you can get the help needed when you call. This is what we are doing with our partners in diaspora.”

Governor Ikpeazu also said that Abia State is the first State to do telehealth and plans to reach all parts of the State.

“If you are in Arochukwu, just a phone call, will get you to the primary health care which will help you improve your health. We want to reduce the number of people that comes to the hospital.”

The Governor stated that this indices is what he wants and will try his best to make it possible and also made a plea to the Commissioner representing Abia State at the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Chris Alozie Akomas that the commission comes up with a template that monitors the revenue of the state and points out where the government can make an added revenue.

“We can’t produce a 21st-century farmer without equipping the person and even helping out as marketing has become our major call, ” he stated.

He appreciated the homecoming of Dr Chris Akomas and promised full-fledged participation and his determination to move the State forward.
