Popular Nigerian social commentator and online activist, Martins Vincent Otse known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has reportedly been arrested, according to a statement made by Lagos-based lawyer, Adeyanju Deji.

Deji took to his Facebook page on Thursday to share the news, writing: “Got locked out of my Facebook since morning and just gained access. VDM arrested at GTB. Demanding accountability is now officially a crime in Nigeria.”
The circumstances surrounding VDM’s arrest remain unclear, including the reasons for his apprehension or whether formal charges have been filed.

However, the incident has already sparked widespread reactions online, with many users expressing concern over what they see as increasing suppression of free speech and civic activism in Nigeria.
VDM is known for his outspoken videos on social and political issues, often calling out public figures and institutions for alleged misconduct.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the police nor GTBank have issued an official statement regarding the alleged arrest.
More details to follow as the story develops.
