“My dad ran a private hospital for a long time. One situation I remember was a guy that came in with a tibia-fibula # due to an RTA. I was late night & popsy admitted without deposit, he always did. This guy spent 8 months in the hospital, had surgeries done with visiting orthopedic reviews. Guess what? One morning nobody saw him again, to date! A bill of over a million as of 1998 vanished into thin air.”

“My dad shut his hospital eventually around 2003 cos he wanted to go into a residency program.
After I had graduated in 2012, one day he called me, sat me down & brought out 3 long thick cover notebooks. They were his book of debts. He told me the reason he kept them till that time was cos he needed to gimme that advice first. Upon calculation, the debts totaled around 18million. He set the books on fire right before me & said: “Uche, never go into private practice”. That was the advice.”

“Now, many times I read Dr slander on this app & it’s hurting real bad cos I’ve witnessed the worst behavior from patients; but of course, they come & scream blue murder & automatically Drs ain’t shit. Back in 2015 when prices of items went up all over the country cos exchange rate, how dare you as a Dr increase the prices of services in your hospital? Cos you’re dealing with human life, they blackmail you with that!”

“Meanwhile, I have to buy rice more than 4 times what the price was in 2015 but cos my business is about human life, I’m not expected to increase the price you pay for my expertise? How then do I afford this price increase in basic life items?”
