PDP Reveals Why Umahi Left, Dissolves Ebonyi Exco, Southeast Zonal Caretaker

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has stated that the Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi left the party for personal reasons which will be disclosed at due time.

Umahi defected to the ruling All Progressive Congress on Tuesday and was received by the President, Muhammadu Buhari.

In it’s official statement, PDP thanked the Governor for the services he rendered to the party and to the people of Ebonyi State.

It wrote, “The @PDPYouthLeader says that the Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. Dave Umahi, left our party for personal reasons, which Nigerians will come to know at the fullness of time. Our party thanks Governor Umahi for services rendered to the people of Ebonyi state, as the State Chairman of Ebonyi PDP (2003 to 2007); deputy governor of Ebonyi state (2007 to 2015) and two term governor of Ebonyi (2015 till date), all elected on the platform of the PDP.”

The National Working Committee of the PDP also dissolved the ward, local government and state executive of Ebonyi State.

It wrote, “The NWC of the @OfficialPDPNig rose from a crucial meeting today (November 17, 2020) and announced the dissolution of the ward, local government and state executive committees of the Ebonyi state chapter of the party forthwith. The NWC has also dissolved the Southeast Zonal Caretaker Committee of the party.

These decisions are pursuant to the powers conferred on the NWC by the @OfficialPDPNig Constitution.”
