Maryam Sanda: Court Upholds Death Sentence
The Court of Appeals sitting in Abuja has upheld the death sentence of Maryam Sanda who murdered her husband, Bilyaminu Bello, in November 2017.
The Court of Appeals sitting in Abuja has upheld the death sentence of Maryam Sanda who murdered her husband, Bilyaminu Bello, in November 2017.

Recall that Justice Yusuf Halilu of the High Court in Maitama Abuja on January 27, 2020, had, in her judgement, convicted Maryam after evidence proved that Maryam fatally stabbed her husband to death on November 19th, 2017.

On February, 19th, 2020, the mother of two had filed a 20-ground notice of appeal praying for an order discharging and acquiring her.
She contended that the judgment convicting her was tainted by bias and prejudices resulting in her being denied her right to a fair hearing.
