Update: Police Captures Baboon After Citizen’s Alarm
Following the report of a baboon attacking citizens, the Anambra State Police Command have captured the animal and returned it to a secure cage.

It was gathered that after a complaint was lodged at the ‘B’ division, police operatives led by the Area Commander Awka Metro ACP Yemi Ajayi and DPO B’ Division visited the scene on Thursday and took the 13-year-old victim Chekwube Ositadinma to the hospital for medical care.
The manager of the Center for Psychic and Healing Administration, Mrs Flora Ilonzo of Agu-Awka, where the Baboon was said to have escaped from, was taken into custody but was granted bail based on recognition.
The police spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed, revealed that the statement of the victim’s family have been recorded and investigation ongoing.
“Meanwhile, the Command is collaborating with relevant government agencies to ensure that the animals at the Centre are securely kept to prevent the repeat of this kind of incident,” Haruna added.
