Security Breach: Imo CAN Calls for Cease-Fire

The Christian Association of Nigeria, Imo State chapter has expressed worry over the recent security breaches in the state and other parts of the South-East zone, calling for a ceasefire.

The leadership of the Christian Association in the state made their feelings known through a press briefing addressed by its chairman, Rev. Eches Divine Eches at the CAN Secretariat, off Port Harcourt Road, Owerri.

The association expressed reservations that the state, renowned for its academic prowess and stability is gradually turning into a theatre of absurdity and called on anyone sponsoring or participating in the act of terror to desist and allow peace to reign, adding that the state must have only one governor at a time, who must be accorded the well-deserved respect.

“The sudden bloodshed will do us no good because the victims are our brothers and sisters. Like the saying, one should not throw stones into the market because it may just hit one’s mother, father, brother, sister or wife.

The association equally regarded the security crisis as being politically motivated, while cautioning the political class not to play politics with the blood of Imolites.

“I call on the political class to stop fueling crisis while they keep their family members outside the country. Let us stop making the state unsafe and sending out panic, thereby causing high blood pressure to citizens, especially the aged”.

The association while sympathizing with the governor and his family members over the attack, called on him to forgive those who have perpetrated the dastardly acts against him, assuring him of unrelenting prayers and supplication at all times.

“We are so much aware that this must be the handiwork of detractors who want to, by all means, distract you from your good developmental programmes and projects we have witnessed in Imo State in the last one year.
