Hanifa: Kano Govt Revokes Certificate of Operations for Private Schools
The Kano State Government on Monday revoked the certificates of operation of all private schools in the state for revalidation.
“All the certificates issued to private schools in the state are hereby revoked,” Commissioner for Education, Muhammad Sanusi-Kiru, said in a press briefing.

This follows the alleged murder of Hanifa Abubakar, a five-year-old pupil of Noble Kids Comprehensive College by the proprietor of the school.
Mr Sanusi-Kiru said the development was to allow for revalidation and screening of the proprietors of those schools, adding that a committee that will look into the registration of all private schools had been constituted.

“The ministry will bring out criteria for the recertification of all private schools, which include Ministry of Justice and Department of State Services (DSS),” the commissioner said.
Others, he said, were the police, Fire Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Road Traffic Agency, and other government officials.
The state government had ordered an indefinite closure of Noble Kids Academy, Kano, after young Hanifa was kidnapped and killed.
Meanwhile, aggrieved youths of the village have burnt down the school, Noble Kids Comprehensive School, the school little Hanifa attended and was killed at by the proprietor Abdulmalik Tanko.
