Obaseki Vows to Tackle Street Begging in Edo State
The Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki has stated that street begging will no longer be allowed in the State in the next few months.
The Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki has stated that street begging will no longer be allowed in the State in the next few months.

Governor Obaseki said this while receiving the Muslim faithful after the completion of the Ramadan fast on Monday.
He revealed that education will be linked with street begging and children to tackle the menace of it in the State.

“I received Muslim faithful who were at the Government House to celebrate the Eid-El Fitr after the successful completion of the Ramadan fast, urging their support in tackling the menace of street begging in the state.

We believe that basic education is the right of every Edo child; it is their right and it is free and compulsory. We will link education with street begging and street children. In the next few months, we will not allow street begging in Edo anymore.”
Obaseki reiterated that basic education was the right of every Edo child and so was free and compulsory.
