The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has requested Churches to organise a peaceful protest over the death of Deborah Samuel, a 200 level student of Shehu Shagari College of Education who was murdered over religious blasphemy.

A statement signed by CAN’s General Secretary Josheph Bade Daramola Esq on Saturday revealed that the protest will take place on the 22nd of May 2022 at the Secretariat of CAN nationwide.

The statement revealed that having the protest at the secretariat was to avoid more loss of lives.
It also directed that inscriptions on placards should read ‘we demand justice for Deborah’ ‘no more killing in God’s name’ ‘we say no to Islamic extremists’ ‘enough is enough’ and many others.
Recall that some churches, shops and properties have been destroyed following the protest that erupted in Sokoto today.
The protesters demanded that suspects of the murder of Deborah should be released immediately as they were defending their gods.
