Man Fakes, Masterminds Self, Family’s Kidnap

The Delta State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Eseoghene Ezekiel Obeje who faked his kidnapping and demanded N500,000 ransome on 11th of August 2023 at Odovie Community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of the State.

It was gathered that the suspect who is now in custody also masterminded the kidnap of his elder brother, wife, and other family members which led to the death of his brother’s wife Regina Ogana after the kidnappers took the ransom of N1,300,000 from his brother.

The spokesperson of the Police, DSP Bright Edafe stated that the husband of the deceased alerted the Command on another kidnap of his brother who happens to be the suspect on Sunday.

The investigation led to the arrest of the said Eseoghene who is a member of the Eiye confraternity at the same spot where the sum of N1,300,000.00 was earlier paid as ransom for the release of his elder brother and husband of the deceased.

Consequently, the Commissioner of Police, CP Wale Abass, gave a directive to the Divisional Police Officer, Oreropke Division, and the operatives of the Divisional Anti-Crime Patrol team led by the DPO  CSP Paul E. Oboware stormed Odovie community, Ughelli North LGA at about 11:45 am and arrested the suspect.
