Lagos Govt. Seals Properties for Blocking Drainage Systems

Operatives of the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources sealed eight properties along Borno Way, Ebute Metta, Lagos State on Friday, 27 October 2023.

In a post by Minister for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, on X formerly known as Twitter, said the houses were sealed due to the dumping of construction materials in the drains which blocked the drainage and resulted in flooding in the vicinity.

He wrote: “Operatives from the Drainage Enforcement and Compliance department of #LasgMOE today sealed 8 (nos) properties along Borno Way, Ebute Metta for dumping construction materials in the drains and causing flooding in the area.”

On Monday, the Lagos State Government also sealed up the Alaba International Market along the Lagos Badagy Expressway, Ladipo Market, Agbado Oke-Odo Market, Oyingbo Market, Alayabiagba Market, Alamutu (Ologede) Market and sections of Tejuosho Market over their non-compliance with the state’s Environmental Protection Laws.
