Workers’ Rights Violation: Police Arrest NLC President in Owerri
For calling out the violation of workers’ rights in Imo State on Sunday, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress Comrade Joe Ajaero was arrested by policemen in Owerri on Wednesday.
For calling out the violation of workers’ rights in Imo State on Sunday, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress Comrade Joe Ajaero was arrested by policemen in Owerri on Wednesday.

This was made known by the Head of Information, NLC, Benson Upah, who said Ajaero was picked up at the state secretariat of the congress and taken to an unknown location.

Upah, in a text message sent to PUNCH, said; “President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Joe Ajaero was picked up a few minutes ago from NLC state council secretariat by heavily armed policemen in Owerri and taken to an unknown destination.”
It was gathered that NLC has vowed to mobiliize its members to a total strike in the Start from Wednesday, the 1st of November 2023.
