Suspected Kidnappers Kill Kwara Monarch, Abduct Two
A traditional ruler of Olukoro of Koro Ekiti, Ekiti LGA, Kwara State, HRH Oba Peter Olusegun Aremu-Cole was killed by suspected kidnappers on the 1st of February 2024.
A traditional ruler of Olukoro of Koro Ekiti, Ekiti LGA, Kwara State, HRH Oba Peter Olusegun Aremu-Cole was killed by suspected kidnappers on the 1st of February 2024.

It was gathered that the gunmen invaded the community around 9 pm and shot sporadically while residents scampered for safety.
Immediately, the kidnappers went to the palace of the deceased monarch who was about to take his dinner, and shot him dead.
They whisked away his wife, adopted child, and another person.

Confirming the killing of the monarch, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq condemned the killing of the retd General Segun Aremu which he described as reckless, shocking, and abominable.
In a statement by Rafiu Ajakaye, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor on Friday, he charged the security agencies not to spare any resources to track down the perpetrators, free the spouse and others taken away, and bring them to book.
“We will certainly get the perpetrators and ensure that this is their last crime against humanity,” the Governor said, adding: “My profound condolences go to the people of Koro. Our hearts are broken, and we stand by them at this time and always.”
