The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC has busted and raided a counterfeit bottled water operation in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The bust followed a credible tip which was followed up by the officials of the agency to a dilapidated shop at Pipe Line Road, Eneka which was disguised as a pool house.
The suspect, Chibunna James, was apprehended while loading the produced fake Eva bottled water for distribution, while the mastermind remains at large.

According to a post by NAFDAC; “the operation revealed a disturbing process – used Eva plastic bottles were refilled with contaminated water drawn from a paint bucket, filtered through a dirty rubber funnel covered with cloth. Counterfeit Eva labels were then applied to the bottles, corked with fake Eva corks.”
The seized products were confiscated and evacuated to the NAFDAC office for further investigation.
