The Edo State Police Command has banned the incessant search on citizens phones by operatives of the command stating that severe sanctions will be administered to any officer caught in duchess practice.
The Edo State Police Command has banned the incessant search on citizens phones by operatives of the command stating that severe sanctions will be administered to any officer caught in duchess practice.

In a statement made available by its official page on X, the Commissioner of Police CP Funsho Adegboye, mni during a meeting with the Command’s strategic security managers re-echoed the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM on the ban of searching citizens’ phones.
Accirding to Chidi Nwabuzor, the public relations officer, he directed Zonal AIGs, Command, and Formations CPs to monitor their personnel and punish erring officers.

Warning the personnel against such unprofessional act, he urged the public to report any officer who indulges in these acts.
In 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2024, the Nigeria Police Force banned the search of citizens phones by the personnel however, the personnel have defied these bans and still searching through the phones of citizens.
