Inmates Flee Correction Centre as Rainstorm Destroys Fence
Inmates of the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Suleja, Niger State have escaped following the destruction of the correction centre caused by rainfall on Wednesday.
Inmates of the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Suleja, Niger State have escaped following the destruction of the correction centre caused by rainfall on Wednesday.

The 118 inmates escaped through the destroyed building including the perimeter fencing which was also affected.
Confirming the incident, the Spokesperson of the Federal Capital Territory Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Adamu Duza, on Thursday stated that the downpour caused severe damage to the infrastructure.

However, he noted that the NCoS has activated its recapturing protocols, collaborating with other security agencies to recover 10 of the escaped inmates.
While efforts to recapture the remaining fleeing inmates are said to be ongoing.
