Fubara Directs Payment of Outstanding Salaries of Former Chairmen, Councillors
Rivers State Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara has directed the newly appointed Caretaker Chairmen C.T.C. to pay outstanding salaries and entitlements of former chairmen and councillors.

He said this while swearing in the 23 CTC Chairmen of the 23 Local Government Areas of the State on Wednesday, 19th June 2024.
The newly appointed Chairmen who were screened by the State House of Assembly today at the Hallowed Chambers, Rivers State House of Assembly took over following the crisis which has plagued the State recently.

There was intense tension in Rivers State as former Chairmen of the 23 LGAs refused to vacate office, citing a court order for a 6-month tenure elongation.
The youths trooped out en masse on Monday and Tuesday and blocked the gates of the Secretariats while insisting that the Chairmen whose tenure had elapsed would Vacate the seat.
