The House of Representatives has passed four key tax reform bills for their second reading, following a five-month period of consultations to address contentious issues.

The bills, which were submitted by President Bola Tinubu, include the Nigeria Tax Bill 2024, the Tax Administration Bill, the Nigeria Revenue Service Establishment Bill, and the Joint Revenue Board Establishment Bill.

Lawmakers emphasized that the bills aim to harmonize Nigeria’s tax administration, eliminate multiple taxation, expand the tax base, and establish an ombudsman to resolve tax disputes efficiently.
They also called for the responsible use of revenue by all levels of government.
