The student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka Goddy Mbakwe Precious, has been expelled for gross misconduct following the assault of Dr. Chukwudi Okoye, a lecturer at the Department of Theatre and Film Studies.

The circular directed to the student and signed by Mr Victor Modebelu, the Acting Registrar of the School directed the student to return all school properties and vacate the school immediately.
The expulsion followed a recommendation by the University Senate after a committee was set up to investigate the issue of gross misconduct by the student.

On Tuesday, a video showed Miss Mbakwe confronting her lecturer after he interrupted her video recording on school grounds. The lecturer initially walked past her and excused himself, but later returned and asked for her phone when she responded rudely to him.
The school immediately set up a committee to investigate the incident.
