ASUU-KASU Embarks on Indefinite Strike

The Kaduna State chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU has embarked on indefinite strike action over non-payment of allowance and others.

In a letter signed by the Chairman Dr Peter Adamu and Secretary Dr Peter M Waziri on Tuesday said the strike which began today pointed out other issues like withheld salaries from May to September 2022.

It also mentioned Payment of Earned Academic Allowance which has not been paid from 2016 till date, promotion arrears and SIWES supervision allowance, group life assurance and other entitlement of deceased members, non-remittance of pension from 2009 to 2019, implementation of 25% and 35% wage award and restoration of University autonomy.

It rejected the promises of Kaduna State Government for lack of substance and specific details on payment of outstanding entitlements to members.
