Dr. Mudashiru Obasa has been sworn in as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly following the resignation of the first female Speaker, Mojisola Meranda, on Tuesday.

Meranda resigned from her role and reverted to her former position as Deputy Speaker.

Obasa took on the role of Speaker after being the sole nominee for the position.
David Setonji returned to his role as Deputy Chief Whip, Richard Kasumu was appointed Deputy Majority Leader, Adewale Temitope assumed the position of Majority Leader, and Mojeed Fatai was named Chief Whip.
His return to this top position comes after a period of internal dispute that briefly allowed Mojisola Meranda to assume the speakership.
