The recently elected head of the Catholic Church, Pope Leo XIV, has celebrated his inaugural Solemn Mass at St Peter’s Basilica in Rome, marking the commencement of his pontificate.

The recently elected head of the Catholic Church, Pope Leo XIV, has celebrated his inaugural Solemn Mass at St Peter’s Basilica in Rome, marking the commencement of his pontificate.

The Pope will be given the Fisherman’s Ring which contains the Image of St. Peter the first Pope, with the symbols of Key and Net.

Inside the Ring will be the Official Seal of Pope Leo XIV and his chosen name.

The Pope was elected following the death of Pope Francis on Easter Monday in a conclave of the Cardinals all over the world. He would start his Petrine ministry today.
