President Bola Ahmed Tinubu delivered an address to members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the National Summit of the Party on the ‘Journey So Far’ in Abuja on Thursday, defending his administration’s policies, denouncing critics of the ruling party’s dominance, and promising a brighter future for Nigeria.

In a sweeping speech, Tinubu dismissed concerns about the erosion of multi-party democracy in Nigeria, saying: “I just need to tell those who say a one-party system is no good: you don’t blame a people bailing out of a sinking ship when they have no life jackets.”
He hailed the APC’s resilience and signaled greater political consolidation ahead. “I’m glad for what we have, and I’m expecting more to come. That is the game. Welcome to progress; sweep them clean,” he declared.
Encouraging patience among party members seeking appointments, Tinubu promised rewards in the form of national progress: “To many of you, I cannot offer a political position, but be patient; there are many great things coming that will make you proud to belong to this party, your party of choice. The broom is the symbol.”

When a supporter shouted, “Follow who knows the road!” the former Lagos State Governor confidently responded, “I know the way, and we will lead you to that promised land.”
Reflecting on progress during his first two years in office, the president cited anti-corruption efforts, including the dramatic recovery of over 750 houses from a single individual by the EFCC. He criticized what he described as “artificial scarcity” created by opponents to sabotage reforms and vowed his administration would not backtrack: “They think we’re going to fall apart, they think this political party is a failure no, I say.”
Tinubu further emphasized Africa’s potential and Nigeria’s leadership role, saying, “We have the opportunity to make this continent a great one, not just Nigeria. Truly, we are the giant, but the elephantiasis that is holding us back is indiscipline, corruption, and abuse of power.”
