Police Arrest Suspected IPOB Member Ahead of Biafra Day
A suspected member of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has been arrested as security operatives intensify efforts to forestall any unlawful activities ahead of the planned Sit-At-Home order scheduled for May 30.
A suspected member of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has been arrested as security operatives intensify efforts to forestall any unlawful activities ahead of the planned Sit-At-Home order scheduled for May 30.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga on Wednesday, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in the Nnewi Sector apprehended the 37-year-old suspect, identified as Friday Obeta, following credible intelligence reports.
During the arrest, police recovered a motorcycle, a branded IPOB t-shirt, and an operational identification card linked to the group.

The suspect reportedly confessed to being both a member and an informant for the proscribed group and has provided actionable intelligence aiding ongoing investigations aimed at apprehending additional members of the group.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, MNIPS, PhD, commended the operatives for their swift response and directed a heightened surveillance operation across the state. He emphasized the need to prevent any unlawful gathering that could disrupt peace and order.
The command reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents of Anambra State and urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.
