In a late-night enforcement operation, the Lagos State Environmental Taskforce arrested 56 male suspects during a clean-up exercise on Lagos Island.

The operation, which began at approximately 1:30 a.m., targeted areas reportedly plagued by illicit activity and environmental violations.
According to the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, the operation covered several key locations, including Falomo Bridge, the Four Points area, First Gate, Muri Okunola Park, the Law School vicinity, and adjoining streets.
Authorities say the raids were prompted by reports of suspicious individuals loitering in these areas.

During the sweep, the Taskforce recovered suspected narcotic substances believed to be Indian hemp, other illicit drugs, and dangerous items such as scissors.
“All the suspects will be charged to court accordingly,” Wahab confirmed, emphasizing the state’s commitment to its #ZeroToleranceLagos initiative aimed at restoring order and safety in public spaces.
The clean-up and enforcement campaign is part of a broader effort by the Lagos State Government to rid the metropolis of street crime, drug use, and environmental abuse.
