Murder of DPO Rano: Police Arraign 29 Suspects
The Kano State Police Command has arraigned 29 individuals in connection with the brutal killing of CSP Baba Ali, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Rano Division, and the destruction of property linked to the incident.
The Kano State Police Command has arraigned 29 individuals in connection with the brutal killing of CSP Baba Ali, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Rano Division, and the destruction of property linked to the incident.

The suspects were brought before Magistrate Court Number 20 in Nomansland, Kano, following what the police described as a “thorough investigation” into the tragedy that shocked the state and the wider nation.
Fourteen of the accused are facing serious charges, including culpable homicide, criminal conspiracy, inciting disturbance, mischief by fire, criminal trespass, causing grievous hurt, and theft. Those charged in direct connection with the DPO’s death are: Bala Yusuf, Bala Mohammed, Abdulrashid Ibrahim, Abdullahi Salisu Kere, Sadiq Buhari, Yunusa Adamu, Musa Minkaila, Mamuda Mohammed, Ismail Mamuda, Usman Shu’aibu, Musa Hassan Black, Abdulrashid Munkail, Umar Ado Nadada, and Sabitu Abubakar.

All 14 are residents of Rano Local Government Area in Kano State.
In addition, 15 other individuals were arraigned for related offences, including criminal conspiracy, inciting public disturbance, and mischief.
In a statement released by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the police assured the public that justice will be served. He expressed gratitude for the outpouring of condolences and support from the public, and urged residents to remain calm and refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
“The Command reiterates its commitment to maintaining law and order, and ensuring the safety and security of lives and property in the State,” the statement read.
