A coordinated operation by a police-led joint security task force in the early hours of Thursday, June 5, resulted in the destruction of a notorious criminal camp in Agulu-Ezechukwu, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.

One suspected armed hoodlum was reportedly neutralised during the intense raid.
The operation, which lasted over seven hours and involved a heavy exchange of gunfire, was executed by a coalition of security forces, including the Nigerian Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigerian Army, Navy, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and members of the Anambra State Vigilante Group.

Following the successful assault on the camp, operatives recovered an ash-colored Toyota Sienna with registration number EKY 03 FF, an unregistered white Mazda Hilux, a motorcycle, and a significant quantity of items believed to be looted property. These include kitchen utensils, gallons, food supplies, sleeping mattresses, mechanical tools, clothing, and other incriminating materials.
According to the Anambra State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga on Friday, security personnel are still combing the area in search of fleeing suspects. The presence of multiple fresh bloodstains at the scene suggests others may have sustained injuries during the encounter.
The operation underscores ongoing efforts by security agencies to dismantle criminal hideouts and restore peace in the state.
Further updates are expected as the investigation and manhunt continue.
