Makinde to PDP Members: “Don’t Abandon Your House Because of a Leaking Roof”
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has called on members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and allied opposition politicians to remain committed to the party despite internal challenges, stressing the importance of unity and collective responsibility ahead of future elections.

Speaking at the South West Zonal Caucus meeting of the PDP held in Ibadan on Friday, Governor Makinde drew a vivid analogy, likening the decision by some members to leave the party over disagreements to abandoning a house due to a leaking roof.
“You can’t abandon your house because of a leaking roof,” Makinde said. “The PDP is built on solid foundations. Like any structure, it may develop cracks or leaks, but it is our collective duty to fix them and ensure the house remains strong for the people of this country.”
The governor urged members of the opposition coalition particularly those who left the PDP to reconsider their stance and return to strengthen the party from within rather than seeking alternatives due to temporary issues.
Makinde praised the commitment and sacrifices of party leaders and members across the region, reaffirming his dedication to rebuilding and repositioning the PDP in preparation for future electoral contests.
“Let us fix the roof together and keep this house strong for the future,” he concluded.
The South West Zonal Caucus meeting brought together PDP leaders and stakeholders from across the region as part of ongoing efforts to consolidate party unity, re-engage estranged members, and strengthen grassroots support.
