NAFDAC Unveils Solution Providers to Drive Pharmaceutical Traceability Pilot
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC has unveiled Solution Providers to support the implementation of Phase II of its pharmaceutical traceability pilot for Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health and Nutrition (MNCH&N) products.

This marks a major step in advancing a transparent and secure pharmaceutical supply chain.
Speaking at the event in Lagos, the Director-General of NAFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, emphasised that traceability is not just a regulatory obligation but a public health necessity, especially in light of the growing threat of substandard and falsified medicines.

She noted that the gazetting of the Pharmaceutical Products Traceability Regulations in October 2024 underpins the Agency’s commitment to using technology to protect vulnerable populations.
Prof. Adeyeye called on all stakeholders, including Marketing Authorisation Holders and technical partners, to actively participate in the 12-month scalable pilot by ensuring timely product identification, data sharing using GS1 standards, and system integration.
She expressed confidence that this collaborative effort will lay the groundwork for a national scale-up and lasting transformation in pharmaceutical supply chain integrity.
