Nigerians Want Jonathan Back, Critics Don’t Understand Their Pain – Mathias Tsado
A former presidential aspirant of the Action Democratic Party, ADP, Mathias Tsado, has said there is a strong demand from Nigerians for former President Goodluck Jonathan to return to power, adding that those discouraging him from contesting do not understand the hardship Nigerians face.

Speaking on the Sunrise Daily programme on Channels Television, Tsado urged the former president to consider running for office again if he so desires, and to assemble a competent legal team to address any constitutional barriers that may stand in his way.
“The call from Nigerians is that former President Goodluck Jonathan should come and run for election, if he so desires,” Tsado said. “Let him assemble a legal team that will trash out every encumbrance that would befall him, but as far as the Nigerian people are clamouring for him to rule, I think most of the people who are discouraging him not to run do not understand the pains of Nigerians.”
He lamented the deteriorating economic situation in the country, stressing that many families can no longer guarantee their daily meals.
Highlighting Jonathan’s tenure, Tsado praised his leadership style, particularly his commitment to institution-building and non-interference in the affairs of the judiciary and legislature.
“President Goodluck Jonathan was one of the presidents we had who focused on building institutions in the country. He never dabbled in judicial issues or what was happening in the National Assembly. He just let things be,” he said.
Tsado criticised the decision by Nigerians to replace Jonathan with a former military general, arguing that the country has moved “from frying pan to fire” under the current administration.
He reiterated that the call for Jonathan’s return stems from widespread dissatisfaction and a longing for more stable and democratic governance.
