A joint security operation led by the Anambra State Police Command has successfully dislodged a suspected Eastern Security Network (ESN)/Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) militia camp in Aguluezechukwu, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The operation, which took place in the early hours of September 2, 2025, involved personnel from the 302 Artillery Regiment (General Support), the 14 Field Engineer Regiment, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Anambra State Vigilante Group, Agunechemba.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the raid lasted over five hours and led to the destruction of the militant camp. Several militia members reportedly fled with gunshot wounds during the confrontation.

Security forces also recovered a white Lexus 470 SUV and several Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) from the site. The area has since been secured, with continued surveillance to ensure residents’ safety and apprehend fleeing suspects.

“The Anambra State Police Command reassures Ndi Anambra of its unwavering commitment to sustaining the fight against criminality and restoring peace across the state,” SP Ikenga said in the statement.
