INEC Records Over 4.4 Million Online Voter Pre-Registrations in Four Weeks
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that over 4.4 million Nigerians have completed online pre-registration for the nationwide voter registration exercise.
In a statement signed by Sam Olumekun, mni, National Commissioner and Chairman, Information & Voter Education Committee and released on Monday, INEC revealed that 4,445,505 Nigerians pre-registered online as of Sunday, 14th September 2025, marking four weeks since the exercise launch on 18th August 2025.
Breaking down the figures, the Commission noted that 2,141,294 (48.17%) of those who registered online are male, while 2,304,211 (51.83%) are female. The data also shows that young Nigerians between the ages of 18 and 34 account for the majority, with 2,924,643 (65.79%), while 1,112,344 (25.02%) are students.

In terms of completed registration combining both online and in-person processes, INEC reported 509,929 registrations as of Friday, 12th September 2025. Among these, 229,758 (45.06%) are male and 280,171 (54.94%) are female. Youths in the 18–34 age range continue to dominate with 378,132 (74.15%) of the total, while 196,529 (38.54%) are students.
INEC also provided an update on registration activities in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The Commission confirmed that online pre-registration in the FCT ends today, Monday 15th September, after which in-person registration will take place at designated centres for two weeks. From 29th September to 8th October 2025, voter registration will be held in all 62 wards in the FCT.
