‘May Nigeria Never Happen to Me’ – Arise TV Broadcaster Somtochukwu Tweets a Month to Her Death
Just a month after expressing her hopes that Nigeria would not affect her or her loved ones, Arise TV news anchor Somtochukwu Maduagwu, 29, was tragically killed during an armed robbery at her home in Katampe, Abuja, on Monday morning.

A tweet she posted on August 14, 2025, read: “I pray from the depth of my heart that Nigeria never happens to me or anyone I care about,” which has since resurfaced following the news of her passing that flooded social media.
Affectionately known as Sommie, she was not only a talented broadcaster but also a qualified lawyer.
While multiple accounts of the circumstances surrounding her death exist, the FCT Police are currently investigating the crime and have urged the public to remain calm.
