Orji Uzor Kalu Urges Unity, Patriotism in Independence Day Message
As Nigeria marks its 65th Independence Anniversary, former Abia State Governor and Senator Dr Orji Uzor Kalu (MON) has called on Nigerians to uphold the values of unity, peace, and collective responsibility in building a prosperous nation.

In an Independence Day message to the nation, Senator Kalu paid tribute to the country’s founding fathers, praising their courage, sacrifices, and unwavering commitment to freedom and justice. He noted that Nigeria’s journey since independence has been marked by numerous challenges, but also by the resilience and determination of its people.
“Today reminds us of the courage, unity, and sacrifices of our founding fathers who stood for freedom, justice, and a future built on hope,” he said.
The senator emphasised that true independence goes beyond political liberation, stressing the need for an inclusive society where opportunities are available to all citizens, and where justice and equity are cornerstones of national life.
“True independence is not only about political freedom; it is about building a society where opportunities are available to all, where the dreams of our youth are nurtured, and where justice and equity prevail,” Kalu stated.
He urged citizens to renew their commitment to nation-building, noting that the responsibility of creating a better Nigeria lies not only with leaders but with every citizen. He called for patriotism, hard work, and faith in the country’s future.
“On this Independence Day, let us renew our commitment to Nigeria. Let us remember that the responsibility of building the country we desire rests not only on our leaders but on each of us as citizens,” he added.
Senator Kalu said he envisions a Nigeria built on peace, prosperity, and shared hope for future generations.
“Together, let’s make Nigeria a land of prosperity, peace, and hope for generations to come. Happy Independence Day, Nigeria!” he said.
