Student Cries Out Over Alleged Sex-for-Grades Harassment by Polytechnic Lecturer
A female student, Shalon Oyinyechi Okechukwu, has taken to social media to seek help over alleged sexual harassment by a lecturer at Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, Port Harcourt.

Okechukwu claimed that the lecturer, identified as Mr Remi Okah, has been demanding sex in exchange for passing a course she has reportedly carried over for more than two years.
In her emotional post, which has since gone viral, Okechukwu appealed to the Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa and the Rivers State Commissioner for Education to intervene in her case. She alleged that her refusal to give in to the lecturer’s demands had resulted in her continued academic setback.

However, following the widespread circulation of her post, Okechukwu said she received threats and was pressured to delete the message or face legal consequences. In a subsequent video, she apologised and expressed resignation over the situation, saying, “They can take the result; Nigeria has happened to me too.”
Visibly distraught, the student added that she intends to take a break from academics to recover from the trauma and anxiety caused by the ordeal, vowing to return to pursue another degree in the future.
As of the time of this report, neither Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic nor Mr Remi Okah had issued an official response to the allegations.
