FG Shuts 47 Unity Schools Nationwide Amid Rising Abductions

The Federal Government has ordered the temporary closure of 47 unity schools across the country following a recent surge in abductions targeting educational institutions.

The directive was conveyed in a circular issued on Friday by Binta Abdulkadir, Director of Senior Secondary Education at the Federal Ministry of Education. According to the circular, the decision is a precautionary measure aimed at safeguarding students and staff while security agencies intensify efforts to curb the growing insecurity.

Abdulkadir noted that the affected schools have been instructed to suspend academic activities immediately and ensure the safe evacuation of students. She added that the ministry is working closely with security operatives to monitor the situation and determine when it will be safe to reopen the schools.
