Akpabio Orders Withdrawal of Defamation Suits Against Natasha, Others
The President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has directed his legal team to withdraw all pending lawsuits he instituted against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and other individuals over alleged defamation.

Akpabio made the statement on Thursday while addressing colleagues, disclosing that he had several cases before the courts, including a suit involving Senator Natasha. He said the decision followed a moment of personal reflection inspired by a cleric’s message.
“I had almost nine cases in court against some individuals who defamed me, who lied against me, who slandered my name,” Akpabio said.
“But I listened to the priest and suddenly realised he was talking to me, so I hereby direct my solicitor to withdraw all lawsuits against them.”
Meanwhile, the Senate President did not provide further details on the specific cases or the timeline for their withdrawal but he has sued the Senator representing Kogi Central for defamation over alleged sexual harassment in 2025.
