Rivers Assembly Begins Impeachment Proceedings Against Governor Fubara
The Rivers State House of Assembly has commenced impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara following allegations of gross misconduct.

The move was announced during plenary on Thursday, when the Majority Leader of the House, Major Jack, read a notice of impeachment against the governor on the floor of the Assembly.
According to the notice, Governor Fubara is accused of several acts of gross misconduct, including the demolition of the Rivers State House of Assembly Complex, alleged extra-budgetary spending, and the withholding of funds meant for the Rivers State House of Assembly Service Commission.
The lawmakers also accused the governor of refusing to comply with a Supreme Court ruling on the financial autonomy of the House of Assembly.
Following the reading of the notice, the Assembly formally initiated the impeachment process in line with constitutional provisions.
