Sowore Claims IGP Kayode Egbetokun Removed, To Be Replaced by Tunji Disu

Activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore stated on Tuesday that the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has been removed from office.

Sowore, who referred to Egbetokun as an “illegal IGP,” said he will be replaced by Tunji Disu of the Lagos State Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (FCIID).

In a post circulating on online forums, Sowore wrote: “BREAKING: The Illegal IGP, Kayode Egbetokun has been kicked out, he will be replaced by the fellow at FCIID in Lagos!”

Egbetokun’s tenure has been the subject of controversy for more than a year, with the argument that his continued hold on the office runs contrary to statutory retirement provisions.

Meanwhile, there has been no official confirmation as at the time of filing this report.
