Landlord Orders Tenants to Purchase Groceries Only from Wife or Face Sanction

A woman known as @wealth_pretyy has shared how her landlord enforced strict rules within the compound, including a mandate that all tenants must buy foodstuffs exclusively from his wife’s shop.

According to her, her prices are higher than those at other stores. She also mentioned that if a tenant returns with groceries, the landlord and his wife examine the bag to verify what was bought and whether it is sold at their store.

In a letter seen by Newsleverage, the landlord warned that anyone found breaking these rules would be liable to eviction without prior notice.

In a post on X, she wrote “My landlord just made a new rule: you must buy all your food and provisions from his wife.

Meanwhile, her prices are higher than outside.
Sachet water is ₦600 elsewhere, she’s selling it for ₦700.

If you come home with groceries, they’ll even check your bag like you’re smuggling contraband.

Worst part? I just renewed my rent on December 1, 2025. 💔
