Just-In: Community Flogs Suspected Thief 250 Strokes

A young man from Asaga Ohafia was apprehended by residents in Ebem Ohafia after allegedly stealing from a local boutique and engaging in the use of hard drugs.

According to a viral video seen by Newsleverage, the suspect was caught in the act of attempting to steal items from the boutique before being overpowered by members of the public.

Community leaders intervened and the suspect was subjected to 250 strokes of the cane, a punishment which was carried out publicly.

Thereafter, the community leaders ceased the suspect’s motorcycle, told him to repay all that had been missing in the person’s shop while charging him to pay a N60,000 for the haircut and N1000 for each of the strokes given to him.

They promised to release his motorcycle after he pays his debt.
