Residents Flee Yawota Community Over Fresh Bandit Attack Fears
Residents of the Yawota community in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have reportedly fled the area following fears of another attack by armed bandits.

The mass movement comes days after suspected kidnappers invaded Yawota Baptist Nursery and Primary School, alongside nearby schools in Esiele and Ahoro-Esiele communities, on May 15, 2026.
During the attack, several pupils and a school principal were reportedly abducted, throwing the affected communities into panic and uncertainty.

Sources within the area reported that many families have abandoned their homes due to concerns that the attackers may return, while academic activities and commercial operations have been disrupted.
On 15th May, there was a coordinated invasion of Yawota Baptist Primary and surrounding schools, where 25 children and 7 teachers were abducted, and a teacher was tragically killed.
