Kwankwaso Had No Defection Talks With Tinubu, APC – Kwankwasiyya Spokesperson
The Kwankwasiyya Movement has dismissed claims that there were discussions between former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) regarding any planned defection.

Speaking on the issue on Friday, Habibu Mohammed, the spokesperson for the movement, stated that no negotiations or political arrangements were held between Kwankwaso, Tinubu, and the ruling party.
Mohammed revealed that in the early days of the Tinubu administration, the president invited Kwankwaso to a private meeting to discuss the possibility of working together. According to him, Kwankwaso later made the meeting public but declined to join or work with the administration.
He further stated that before Kwankwaso’s eventual defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the former presidential candidate had already established a political relationship with Peter Obi.
Mohammed also dismissed allegations that Kwankwaso was opposed to a Yoruba or southern presidency, describing such claims as “laughable.”
According to him, Kwankwaso has a long history of working with leaders from different parts of the country, citing his close political alliance with former President Olusegun Obasanjo as evidence.
“Rabiu Kwankwaso has consistently proven he can work with people from all sections of Nigeria,” Mohammed said. “He was at the forefront of working with then-President Obasanjo, and that alliance even cost him a second term. Yet he maintained the relationship because he believes Nigeria is bigger than ethnicity and religion.”
He added that if Kwankwaso had wanted to align politically with President Tinubu, “he would only be a phone call away,” stressing that the former Kano governor has met Tinubu only once since the current administration came into office.
