“Tinubu Has No Opposition, Peter Obi Cannot Win Presidency” – OUK Says

Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Orji Uzor Kalu (OUK), has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has no formidable opposition ahead of the next general election, urging members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia North to unite and work towards delivering overwhelming victories for the President and all party candidates.

Speaking during a stakeholders’ meeting with members of the APC, the OUK Reality Organisation and the OUK Movement in Abia North at Camp Neya on Friday, Kalu said the gathering was convened to strengthen party unity and mobilise support for the President and other APC candidates.

“I want to see President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and every other member of the party winning in Abia. If I win and others do not, President Tinubu will not have strong voting power. We need strong voting power,” he said, adding that he has never asked anyone to rig elections, stressing that politics is about service and the future of Abia State.

On the proposed creation of state police, Kalu disclosed that the Executive and the National Assembly are working on a new Police Act that will clearly define the operations, powers and limitations of state police to prevent abuse by governors or political office holders.

“We are going to make sure that we take care of all the clauses where anybody will abuse the state police. Those of us who have served as governors will sit down and ensure the bill serves the interest of all Nigerians,” he said.

Reacting to concerns about anti-party activities within the APC, the former governor dismissed suggestions of disunity, insisting that the party remains united despite differing political opinions.

Referring to his younger brother, Mascot Uzor Kalu, who withdrew from the Abia governorship race, Kalu said the decision reflected support for equity.

“There is no problem in APC. We are together, very well together,” he stated.

Speaking on President Tinubu’s economic reforms, Kalu argued that while Nigerians are experiencing economic hardship, the administration has recorded significant progress in stabilising key macroeconomic indicators, including fuel pricing and the foreign exchange market.

According to him, the major challenge confronting the economy remains insecurity, which has affected agricultural production and manufacturing by preventing farmers from accessing their farmlands.

“The President is one of the boldest leaders Nigeria has produced. He dares to make difficult decisions to fix the economy. The economy cannot recover overnight. It took countries like China and Singapore years of consistent policies to achieve their economic transformation,” he said.

He expressed confidence that improvements in security operations against bandits would restore farming activities, revive local production and stimulate manufacturing, predicting that Nigerians would begin to experience greater economic recovery by the middle to the end of next year.

Kalu also dismissed the chances of the opposition in the next presidential election.

“There is no going back. President Bola Tinubu has no opposition. The opposition is in tatters. Maybe if I were contesting, President Tinubu would have an opposition. Peter Obi cannot do it. It takes support across at least 24 states to become President, and from my calculations, there is no way,” he said.

Highlighting his political strength in Abia North, Kalu claimed he still commands a voting bloc of about 50,000 supporters through the OUK Reality Organisation and the OUK Movement.

“I’m still the only senator with a 50,000 voting bloc. Even if you remove 20,000, I still have 30,000,” he said.

Addressing supporters disappointed over Mascot Uzor Kalu’s withdrawal from the governorship race, the former governor encouraged them not to lose hope, assuring them that “so far as there is life, there is hope.”

Several party leaders spoke at the meeting, including Barrister Peter Ndukwe, Chief Mrs Ezinne Udu Uduma, Ojisi Iroh Ugbaja (Abacha), Hon. Engr. George Nnanna, APC stakeholders led by Comrade Chukwuemeka Adele, Bende APC Women Leader Ijeoma Anele, State Women Leader of the Reality Organisation Chief Mrs Chinyere Val, Ndem Chukwu and Barrister Ifeanyi Igwe, described the APC in Abia as more united than ever.

They pledged to mobilise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Orji Uzor Kalu in the forthcoming general election, maintaining that Kalu remains the most qualified candidate to represent Abia North in the Senate.
