Stakeholders Hit Back at Aguocha, Defend Orji Family, Demand Apology Over Late Father’s Record
The political space in Ikwuano-Umuahia Federal Constituency has again been set agog following a fresh attack on former Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji, by the media team of Hon. Obi Aguocha.

In a statement circulated on Monday, the Aguocha camp accused the Orji family of “underdeveloping Abia” and claimed that Mr Orji’s consultations ahead of 2027 were “hitting brick walls” across Ikwuano and Umuahia.
Reacting swiftly, the Concerned Stakeholders of Ikwuano-Umuahia described the statement as “the product of desperation, envy, and political emptiness.”
In their response made available to newsmen, the group said:
“Let’s deal with facts, not rented noise. The same Ikwuano-Umuahia people you claim have deserted us are witnesses to 8 years of real projects, real empowerment, and real access. You cannot erase that with WhatsApp press releases.
On the issue of EFCC, CCourt cases are not convictions. Nigerians are wiser now. Instead of blackmail, show us one road, one borehole, one empowered youth you have attracted to this constituency since you got to Abuja. Just one.
To talk about 30 years of service with no empowerment is the biggest joke. The Orji name is known in every village in Abia because of direct interventions, scholarships, hospitals, jobs, contracts. If it didn’t reach your own house, that is your pain, not the people’s pain.
And for the call to ‘apologise for underdeveloping Abia,’ the height of audacity. After your late father apologises to Ndi Old Imo State for being a lousy commissioner under military rule, then the Orjis can follow. Until then, keep your lectures. A house with broken windows should not be throwing stones.
Light does not hide behind anonymous sources. Light does not campaign with bitterness. Light works. While you write press releases, we are consulting with the people who actually vote.”
The Stakeholders further noted that 2027 will not be decided on social media but “in the villages, in the polling units, and in the hearts of Ndi Ikwuano-Umuahia who know who has stood with them.”
They urged Ndi Abia “to remember, and to use their sense” when the time comes.
