Pastor Paul Enenche Condemns Ahmad Jingir’s Comments, Warns Against Taking Church for Granted

Pastor Paul Enenche, Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, has condemned recent comments attributed to Islamic cleric Ahmad Jingir regarding Christianity and religious demographics in Nigeria.

Enenche described the remarks as reckless and capable of provoking tension in the country, insisting that Christianity cannot be treated as subordinate to any other religion.

Speaking after returning from a crusade, the cleric said it was unacceptable for anyone to suggest that Christians were “secondary” to another religious group in Nigeria.

“Christianity is not secondary, and no group of religious fanatics will ever make it secondary,” Enenche declared.

He maintained that Christians are present in large numbers across every part of Nigeria and challenged those making claims about the country’s religious composition to support them with credible statistics.

The pastor also called for a credible national census, saying such an exercise would provide clearer information about the religious composition of the country.

Enenche accused Gumi and others who make similar statements of contributing to tension and division in Nigeria, while questioning their contributions to the nation’s development.

He further warned that inflammatory religious statements could trigger violence, urging security agencies to take comments capable of inciting unrest seriously.

“I blame security forces for allowing people to make reckless and useless statements,” he said, arguing that provocative remarks should not be allowed to go unchecked.

“Such people belong either in prison or a psychiatric hospital. It’s time for the Nigerian government to call such people to order. I blame the security forces for allowing people who make such statements to move freely on the streets.”

Enenche warned those he believes seek to undermine the Christian faith, declaring that the Church would continue to stand and advance.

“Nobody should take the Body of Christ for granted,” he said. “We have kept quiet and calm for a long time, but in the name of Jesus, the Lord rebuke you.”

He reaffirmed his belief that Christianity would remain a major force in Nigeria, saying, “We are here, and we have been here for a very long time.”
