Jibrin: Tinubu Will Secure At Least 65% of Votes in 2027, Kano Will Be Delivered to APC

A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin, has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure at least 65 per cent of the total votes cast in the 2027 presidential election.

Jibrin, who represents Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency of Kano State, made the claim while appearing on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

According to him, Tinubu’s 38 per cent share of the votes in the 2023 presidential election was influenced by the political circumstances surrounding that election.

“In 2023, President Tinubu got 38% of the votes because of the nature of what happened at that time, but take it to the bank, the president will have nothing less than 65% of the total votes cast in 2027,” Jibrin said.

The APC lawmaker also expressed confidence that Kano State would support Tinubu in 2027 despite the political influence of former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso.

“Who is more Kwankwasiyya than us? We understand the dynamics; we will deliver Kano for President Tinubu in the 2027 election,” Jibrin said.

The lawmaker also defended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, describing him as an “asset” to the APC and urging members of the ruling party not to embarrass him through public statements.

Jibrin said Wike had made significant political sacrifices in support of Tinubu and the APC, including helping to strengthen the party’s position in Rivers State.

“Wike is an asset to the APC. I don’t think Wike should be embarrassed at this moment with public statements,” he said.

He argued that Wike’s political platform has provided a means of keeping some politicians aligned with the Tinubu administration rather than allowing frustration with their respective state governors to translate into opposition against the President.

According to Jibrin, some politicians working with opposition groupings had also expressed concern to him over public criticism directed at Wike.

“There is no APC member today in Nigeria that has not directly or indirectly benefited from the effort of Wike,” he said.

Jibrin further argued that Wike had helped the APC politically in several parts of the South-South and said efforts should be made to manage disagreements involving the FCT Minister rather than push him away.

Responding to concerns that Wike could become a liability to Tinubu’s 2027 prospects, Jibrin rejected the argument.

He described Wike as a “fixer” whose political experience could be useful to the administration during the election period.

“I will also tell you that Wike is a fixer. And you need a fixer,” Jibrin said.

He maintained that APC governors should approach the situation through political management, arguing that Wike’s strengths and weaknesses should be considered together.

Jibrin said the political disagreements surrounding Wike should not be allowed to undermine the broader objective of securing support for Tinubu in the 2027 election.
