Nwaogu Has Left APC, Not Returning – Media Aide Fires Back

The media team of Senator Nkechi Nwaogu has dismissed claims that the former lawmaker remains a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting that she has moved to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and has no plans to return.

The clarification followed a statement by one Uche Aguoru, who reportedly claimed that Nwaogu was still a member of the APC.

In a statement issued by Victor Kelechi Onyendi, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Nwaogu, the senator’s media team described Aguoru’s claim as untrue and questioned why APC supporters were focused on Nwaogu instead of addressing issues within their own party.

The statement urged the APC to address what it described as internal political differences, particularly the conduct of some of its candidates who have allegedly distanced themselves from the party’s governorship candidate and endorsed another candidate.

“Before the APC begins dragging Senator Nwaogu, perhaps it should first address the conduct of some of its own candidates who have publicly distanced themselves from the party’s governorship candidate and endorsed another candidate,” the statement said.

The media team asked: “Who is really facing a crisis of party cohesion?”

Nwaogu, a former senator and the NDC senatorial candidate for Abia Central, was described by her media team as a major political figure whose name continues to attract attention within the state’s political space.

The statement maintained that Nwaogu had left the APC and had chosen the NDC as her new political platform.

“Let us make one thing clear: Senator Nwaogu has left the APC, and she is not returning,” it said.

According to the statement, Nwaogu is “respected, accepted and actively participating” in the NDC’s political activities and remains focused on her campaign in Abia Central.

Her media team also said her supporters regard her as “the candidate to beat” in the forthcoming Abia Central Senatorial election.

The statement advised the APC to concentrate on presenting its candidates and resolving its internal differences rather than attacking Nwaogu.

“Senator Nkechi Nwaogu has moved on. The NDC is her political home, and she remains focused on Abia Central and the people she seeks to represent,” Onyendi said.
